About Us

No family should ever search alone.

The Wesley Lockyer Foundation mobilises search coordinators, logistics, and trauma support the moment a loved one goes missing in remote Western Australia — we don't wait for families to find us, we go to them.

Our purpose

Standing with families across the vast distances of Western Australia.

The Wesley Lockyer Foundation mobilises the moment a loved one goes missing in remote Western Australia. We deploy experienced search coordinators, organise volunteer ground teams, arrange flights and vehicles to get families on-country, and stand beside them through every stage of the search — not as advocates speaking for families, but as a hands-on operational force that gets people into the field and keeps them there until there are answers.

Our digital hub serves as a single point of contact for anyone affected by a missing person case in remote WA. We help families report to police, coordinate volunteer search logistics, arrange transport and accommodation so loved ones can be on-country during a search, and provide trauma-informed counselling and peer support for as long as it takes. We also produce downloadable safety checklists, survival guides, and communication resources tailored to the vast distances and harsh conditions of the Australian outback.

We support every family across remote Western Australia — Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, farming families, mine workers, travellers, and tourists alike. Our services are universally inclusive, while our cultural liaison advocates ensure that search responses respect cultural protocols and the rhythms of every remote community we work alongside.

The foundation was established in memory of Wesley Lockyer and is led by a team of experienced search coordinators, cultural liaison advocates, trauma counsellors, and logistics specialists based in Port Hedland, Perth, and on-country across WA. We work in partnership with WA Police, emergency services, local shires, Aboriginal community councils, and corporate partners who share our commitment to bringing loved ones home.

What we do

We provide a coordinated, compassionate response that bridges the gap between official search efforts and the practical, cultural, and emotional needs of families. From the first phone call to long after a search concludes, we walk alongside every family — helping them report to police, coordinate volunteer search logistics, arrange transport and accommodation so loved ones can be on-country, and access trauma-informed counselling and peer support for as long as it takes.
